The Demo is basebox's public evaluation environment. Its sole purpose is to let you try basebox before ordering or deploying it – it is not a production system and not meant for real, sensitive data.

The interface in the Demo is the same as in basebox Cloud and basebox Server. What you see and try there is what you will find in your production environment later.
Statements about the Demo apply to the Demo only
The Demo runs on different infrastructure than Cloud and Server: at Hetzner, with Claude via Google Vertex AI instead of a local model. The answers may therefore differ as well. Do not infer anything from the Demo about the architecture of basebox Cloud or basebox Server. Their security properties are documented under Security & Compliance.
How to get access
- Open basebox.ai and choose "Start for free".
- Follow the sign-up process. You receive your own access to the evaluation environment.
- Sign in – the procedure is the same as in Signing in.

What to try in the Demo
- Chat – a first conversation, different kinds of questions, switching the reasoning effort
- Documents – upload a non-sensitive PDF or spreadsheet and ask questions about it; see Uploading files
- Apps – create your own app with the app generator; see Create a new app
- Knowledge base – attach test documents to an app and check the citations in the answers
- Generating documents – have a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file created for you; see Generating documents
Use test data for all of this: public documents, made-up examples, anonymised content.
What not to do in the Demo
- Upload or type real personal data, patient data or confidential material
- Use the Demo as a permanent workplace – that is what Cloud and Server are for
- Draw conclusions about data flows, storage locations or encryption of the production environments from the Demo's behaviour
After the Demo
If basebox is a fit, there are two production paths:
- Start with basebox Cloud – basebox provides an isolated environment and operates it. You administer only the application.
- Start with basebox Server – a dedicated server for your organisation, located at your site or at basebox, operated by you or by basebox.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Demo the same software as Cloud and Server? Yes, the same interface and the same features. The differences are infrastructure, location and operation, not the application.
May I upload a real document from my work to check the quality? Only if it contains no personal or confidential content. Otherwise use an anonymised copy.
What happens to my Demo data? The Demo is an evaluation environment with no commitments regarding retention or availability. Do not keep anything there that you need again.
