basebox Cloud is a production environment on basebox-owned infrastructure in the Noris data center. Your organisation receives an isolated environment operated by basebox – you look after the application, not the servers.

The path to the first login
- Provisioning by basebox. After the contract is signed, basebox sets up your organisation's environment. It gets its own address following the pattern
<your-organisation>.basebox.ai. The subdomain is fixed and cannot be changed later. - Credentials for the first administrator. basebox creates the first administrator account and hands the credentials to the person named in the contract.
- First login. Open your organisation's address and sign in. Change the password on first login; see Password management.
First steps as an administrator
Work through these points in order – each page explains the step in detail:
- Set up the organisation – name and logo under Organisation; organisation-wide rules in the System prompt; welcome message, language and mail configuration under Settings.
- Choose the model – which model your organisation uses by default: Model selection.
- Invite users – by e-mail under Users. Invitations are valid for 14 days. Create at least one second administrator.
- Create groups – for sharing and permissions: Groups.
- Provide apps – review and adapt the shipped apps (Managing apps), create your own, distribute them to groups via App sharing.
- Decide on connectors – web search, wiki, ticket system: Enabling connectors. Read the Introduction to web search security first.
- Policies and audit – retention, notices in the chat, audit log detail level: Policies and Audit log.
Connecting your systems
basebox Cloud can be connected to what your organisation already runs: an identity provider for single sign-on, outgoing mail, business systems via connectors, API access for your own software. What differs in the Cloud compared to a server – for example that network connectivity has to be established from the Cloud side – is described under Developer → Installation & Operations → Cloud and Enterprise integration.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own servers or IT staff? No. basebox operates the environment. You need one person who administers the application – users, apps, models.
Can I move to basebox Server later? That is a contractual and organisational question; contact sales@basebox.ai. Technically the application is the same.
How do my users reach basebox? Through your organisation's address in the browser, from anywhere with an internet connection. Whether a private connection is possible in addition is described under Network connectivity.
