Exporting files
The problem
basebox currently cannot create or export files directly (e.g. Word, Excel, or PDF). All results are output as text in the chat.
The solution: Generate structured content and transfer it manually into other programs.
How to transfer content
Basic principle:
- Request structured output – Use clear prompts for the format you want
- Copy the answer – Select and copy it (
Ctrl + C) - Paste into the target program – Word, Excel, PowerPoint (
Ctrl + V) - Adjust the formatting – Refine it afterward as needed
Prompts for different programs
For Excel:
Prompt: "Create a table with clearly separated columns and headers"
For PowerPoint:
Prompt: "Create a presentation structure with 8 slides and bullet points"
Example output:
- Slide 1: Title – Project overview Q1 2024
- Slide 2: Goals – Increase revenue by 15%, acquire new customers
For Word:
Prompt: "Format the content as a structured document with headings" (e.g. in Markdown format with headings and bullet points)
What works well
basebox is great at preparing:
- Tables – For importing into Excel
- Lists and outlines – For Word documents
- Structured text – With headings and paragraphs
- Presentation content – Slide structure with bullet points
What isn't currently possible
- Direct file creation (.xlsx, .docx, .pdf)
- Automatic download of documents
- Formatting (bold, italic, colors)
- Inserting images or graphics
Tips for better results
Give specific formatting instructions:
- "As a table with column headers"
- "With numbered lists"
- "In Markdown format"
- "With clear paragraphs"
For complex documents:
- Create the content in sections
- Copy each section separately
- Assemble them in the target program
Important note
basebox outputs all content as text. Creating files is done manually via copy and paste into external programs.
